“You're a tough egg.”
Root expressions:

“Tough cookie.”
“Hard egg.”

Comments:
So, completely incidentally, I had a composition teacher who described Yanni's music as "boiled Kleenex."
Matt Barber, 3/9/10
Even though it won't be something I'll try in conversation, phrases like "boiled cookie" are a really nice by-product of the conflations dialogue. Maybe that one could go in the rejects section with things like "Carpe horns".
William, 3/8/10
I've also heard "hard boiled," so you might get something like "boiled cookie" out of this, but that's not likely to pop up in conversation.
Matt Barber, 3/7/10
nice, I hadn't heard "hard egg" before. I kind of like "hard cookie" too, since a hard cookie is often the opposite of a tough cookie...
David Cecchetto, 3/6/10
Possible variation: You're a tough egg to crumble.
Alec Sutherland, 3/2/10
